Sure, you see us vendors at the market, you see our products on Etsy and on websites. What you may not (or maybe you do) know is all of the time, work, and energy that goes into our products.
Yes, I LOVE what I do! It's fun for me to make my products and consult with people regarding herbal health choices. But did you know that I've spent hours and hours in classes and training seminars, webinars, and field work to get here; not to mention the tuition prices for these things? Most people who "create" something had to learn somewhere.
Also, supplies are an additional cost. Lip balm tubes, coconut oils, glass jars and bottles, labeling, web site fees ... it's endless, really.
"But what about the things you have in your garden, Hippie Chick? All you had to pay for was the seeds." ... Time. Back-breaking (though therapeutic) time, sweat, and more time. Growing, weeding, harvesting, drying, pulverizing, blending ... again, all things I love.
Woodcrafters love the sound of the saw, the smell of the sawdust. My crochet friends love the feel of the yarn, watching the project come together. There is true joy in creating something. To me, my items are priceless.
I do try, however, to keep my line of good affordable to everyone. It bothers me that being healthy costs so much more than being unhealthy. Just look at the tomatoes in your local grocery store; organic vs. not organic. Crazy!
Anyway ... not a rant; just the facts, Ma'am. Back to my original point. ..... What was my point again?? Oh yeah ... I found a cool article.
